The perfect fajitas includes well seasoned protein. I’m using grilled chicken in this recipe. Take it to the next level and add homemade salsa to set your fajitas apart!
In a rush? No problem! This simple recipe is easy to make and will most certainly become a family favorite. I usually prepare this meal about once week and my family never gets tired of it!

Cooking for the family
I enjoy cooking homemade meals for my family. Being a mom of three keeps me on my toes and as you probably expected, I’m pretty busy. Cooking is one of the ways I show my love language. What’s your favorite way to show your family you love them?
Keeping my dinner options quick and simple during the week is a must for me to give my family a well balanced meal and helps me avoid standing over the stove all day.
Incorporating healthy eating
As the designated cook in my family I’m conscious of making sure I incorporate healthy ingredients in the meals I prepare. Sometimes it’s as simple as adding Shuman Farms onions to my dish or as complicated as preparing a fancy 15 ingredient vegan casserole.
Did you know that sweet onions have cancer-fighting antioxidants quercetin & allicin? When eaten as part of a nutrient-filled diet with fresh fruits and vegetables these antioxidants can help prevent disease. This is great news for me as I always try to incorporate onions in all of my recipes. You can find more information about Shuman Farms sweet onions at realsweet.com.

A Message of Hope
Early detection saves lives
I remember being a young adult and learning about my mom’s battle with breast cancer. It was the family secret my brother and I learned about years later. I often think about what my mom and dad were going through at that time and why they thought keeping the news only to themselves was best.
Now as an adult with my own family I can see how involving your kids into life altering medical news might do more harm than good. Through drastic lifestyle changes and holistic health my mother has battled breast cancer TWICE and beat it! Sadly, my Aunt Judy did not survive her battle and I proudly honor her and all women who fought the good fight of breast cancer.
I’m a SURVIVOR… Words from my Mother
It was May 1997 when I decided to start during a self breast exam. I had gone to a health expo in Atlanta and had gotten information on breast health.
One particular brochure caught my attention about teaching you how to do a self breast exam.
While examining my breast I discovered a lump. I immediately told my husband and he said,
“You should get that checked.” I urgently called Dekalb Medical and scheduled a mammogram. After the testing was done the technician said to me, “Mrs. Conner, if you were a female in my family I would recommend you to see a breast surgeon. He handed me a list of names.
I ended up in a doctor’s office at Crawford Long Hospital of Emory University. She did a fine needle aspiration. The test results came back suspicious. Next, I was given a biopsy. The examination of my breast tissue revealed that I had intraductal carcinoma confined to the ductal walls. It was in its early stage.
She explained to me that a mastectomy would be the best way to deal with this type of cancer. A mastectomy never crossed my mind and I cried because I felt deep in my heart that for early stage cancer the removal of my breast was quite radical. I started doing my own research and discovered some hopeful choices for people with early stage breast cancer.
My doctor was very personable and I felt comfortable asking if I decided not to have the surgery how long could I live with this type of cancer. She said 5 years. That was music to my ears. I had made several phone calls to other doctors and I received a phone call from a well respected doctor in the Atlanta area. He told me I had time to think about what I wanted to do.
I used research and a team of people to help me rebuild my body through a natural protocol. Before I knew it twenty years had past and I am still living an anti-cancer lifestyle.
Prevention is the BEST CURE! Play an active role in your own health.
We are thankful for businesses like Shuman Farm who have donated more than $110,000 since 2009 to organizations working hard to find a cure to beat breast cancer.
Try my medium spicy homemade salsa!
Food that taste good and help you fight cancer? Yes please! I never knew how simple it is to make homemade salsa. I think more people would try to make their own instead of purchasing pre-made if they knew it only involved a few steps! Fresh made salsa just captures the essence of each ingredients and adds a kick to the dish you pair it with.
